CA~ Central ~ Director of Tax and Risk Management ~ Agribusiness
Select candidates are being sought for this unique opportunity with an
industry leading agribusiness entity.
The incumbent will report to the CFO with responsibilities to include:
maintaining federal, state and local tax compliance, tax planning, arranging
appropriate insurance coverage, negotiating insurance contracts and managing
relationships with insurance brokers and agents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Tax
§ Preparation and review of various corporate tax returns and
year-end tax accruals; estimating income taxes.
§ Conducting research and planning according to current tax laws,
and advising senior management on the tax impact of current and proposed
company activities and transactions.
§ Identifying ways to minimize the organization's tax liability each
year in accordance with current tax laws.
§ Representing the company on tax audits conducted by outside
regulatory agencies.
§ Facilitating communication with appropriate government agencies
and in-house counsel related to tax matters.
§ Overseeing reporting and payment of all federal, state and local
taxes.
Risk
§ Formulate, procure, implement and oversee insurance policies and
procedures.
§ Maintain company insurance records, coordinate renewal process,
file claims as required and perform annual evaluation of risks.
§ Manage risk audits, ensure compliance with risk policies, identify
and evaluate loss exposure, together with Safety and Loss Control Manager
develop programs to mitigate risk exposure, investigate claims and oversee
settlement of losses.
§ Interfaces with Safety and Loss Control Manager to conduct risk
and loss control analysis and identify areas for improvement.
§ This person will contain and minimize risk-related cost; report
exposure, claims and statistics to senior management; and ensure compliance
and productive interface with applicable regulatory agencies.
§ Work with the CFO to prepare presentations for periodical Board
Meetings and interact with significant stakeholder groups.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
§ Proven interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively to
all levels of management
§ Ability to establish and accomplish objectives within an
entrepreneurial environment.
§ Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local tax codes.
§ 3-5 years of corporate tax experience
§ Knowledge of insurance laws and the ability to interpret contract
language.
§ Effective negotiation skills.
§ Ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and/or board members.
Education and Experience
§ Four year college degree in accounting (Master's or MBA desired).
§ CPA Designation.
§ 7-10 years collective risk and tax experience.
§ Knowledge of SEC reporting and Sarbanes Oxley
