Reports to: Manager, Product Design/Development


The senior technical designer/developer will be working as a member of the
SPL multi-product framework team who is responsible to design and develop
the infrastructure, development tools, and technology architecture of the
various SPL products. The senior technical designer/developer is
responsible for analyzing complex technical and business requirements and
developing technically advanced solutions.

This individual should be an excellent team player and up-to-date with the
latest software technology.



Key Responsibilities


a.. Analysis of business and technical requirements
b.. Writing external and internal design documents
c.. Coding, testing and debugging
d.. Review of Quality Assurance Test plans
e.. Maintain existing and future applications


Required Skills and Knowledge


a.. Requires a BS degree with at least five years experience developing
Web-based applications and/or n-tier applications.
b.. Experience with both online and batch processing.
c.. Excellent Java programming skills.
d.. Experience with JUnit.
e.. Knowledge of XML, XSLT, JCA and Web Services.
f.. Experience with the J2EE architecture.
g.. Experience in PERL and .Net is desired
h.. Knowledge of WebLogic, Tomcat and/or WebSphere.
i.. Solid understanding of relational databases with SQL scripting
competency: Oracle, DB2, UDB, MSSQL
j.. Web User Interface design and development experience
k.. Experience with product cycles from their earliest design phase
through release, patches and upgrades.
l.. Knowledge of software quality processes
m.. Scalability & Performance - ability to create designs that are
scaleable.
n.. Good English communication and writing skills.
o.. Problem solving and analysis, ability to work under pressure.
p.. Unix competency, Solaris, AIX, Linux, HPUX is desired
ž Experience with multi-lingual software is preferred

a.. Experience in the utility or telecom industries is a plus.
b.. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
