Qualifications WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION? Assist the manager of financial services with the direction, management, and preparation of financial and exposure analysis relating to claims on fidelity bonds/policies and contract surety obligations. Work closely with claim handlers in the development and implementation of investigative and resolution strategy on claims presented against Hartford bond products. Provide timely, quality information and analysis critical to claim decisions. Ability to work and respond in a timely and professional manner to multiple customers (internal and external). WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? Provide day-to-day assistance to fidelity and contract claim handlers in the investigation and verification of claims, including the quantification of financial exposures to Hartford based on Hartford ’s bond obligations. Specific duties include a review of the financial condition of troubled contractors/contractors in claim of moderate to high complexity. Investigation audit and preparation of reports necessary to assist the claim handler in making quality claim decisions Investigation to include without limitation payment obligations, receivables, cash flow and contract revenue. Assist claim handlers in development of investigative strategies and provide accounting expertise for fidelity investigations. Assist in coordination of construction services discipline in preparation of reports. * Assist director on more complex claims, manage and define scope of assignments to outside accounting resources, as applicable. Monitor and evaluate/reconcile joint control and trust accounts for contractors in claim where Hartford has provided financial support. * Participate in an ad-hoc basis in the investigation and audit and/or evaluation of specific claims. Assist contract underwriters in financial statement analysis. Assist in monitoring and reporting of salvage/recovery efforts and controls over Bond’s claim system. * Prior experience (4-5 years) in public accounting or in responsible position of a small to medium size corporation is desirable. * Advanced financial analysis skills and above average verbal and written communications skills required. * Ability to travel 20-30% * Ability to effectively articulate concepts and findings over the phone and in person on sensitive claim issues.
