Database Support Manager

Job Description Professional Experience: Overall 9-10 years of
experience with specific experiences as below • 5+ Years of experience
in DB development/Administration. Minimum of 3 years experience in DB
administration • 3+ years pharmaceutical industry experience • 3+
Years of experience in Vendor management/Sourcing • 2+ Years of
experience in people management

Education B.S. in Computer Science/Information Technology or
equivalent. MS a plus.

Specific Requirements:

1. Database specific technical requirements ? Advanced knowledge of
SQL and PL/SQL programming and trouble shooting ? Professional
knowledge of Unix operating system and its derivatives ? Strong DBA
experience in Oracle V 8.x to 10g. knowledge of installation,
administration and problem resolving ? Ability to address complex
system performance issues and provide guidance ? Expertise in Oracle
performance tuning with knowledge of OS level issue handling ?
Experience in Database migration and support production systems ?
Advanced knowledge of database monitoring, tuning and administrative
processes, and UNIX system management ? Experience in monitoring
server performance, database tuning, backup and restore, security
management, DB auditing, Firewall and port management, data storage,
data warehouse, VPN etc.

2. Sourcing/Vendor management requirements ? Sourcing skills such as
RFP processes, contract evaluation/management, selection, etc ? Vendor
management, project management, service provider management ?
Establish SLA/OLA, review, progress reporting, vendor performance
management, etc ? Knowledge of budgeting, invoicing and payment
processes ? Knowledge of outsourcing

3. Industry Specific Requirements ? Excellent understanding of Good
Clinical Practices and Health Industry Regulatory requirements ?
Familiarization of '21 CFR Part 11' and HIPAA guidelines. ?
Familiarization with System Qualification, Validation, IQ, OQ and PQ
testing requirements ? Familiarity with Pharmaceutical industry
related commercial applications

Organizational Requirements ? Coordinate work/assignments with
external IT organizations and both internal and external clients ?
Ability to work with multiple global groups simultaneously handling
various issues ? Excellent consultative and communication skills,
interpersonal skills, analytical ability, decisiveness, strong
judgment ? Ability to interact, work and manage projects involving
large external IT organizations (preferred vendors) ? Familiarity with
MS Windows office productivity suites. Established skills in
presentation and communication tools etc

5. Infrastructure/Architecture ? Ability to understand and address
complex application environments involving Database, App Server and
Webserver ? Experience in Web Servers (IIS, Netscape/iPlanet, Apache)
and Application Servers (Weblogic, Websphere, ASP/.NET) technology. ?
Familiarity with Datawarehouse and multi-tier application
environments ? Expertise in Capacity planning, Database analysis and
design ? Knowledge of Oracle RAC and DataGaurd products ? Knowledge of
Storage technologies/architecture such as SAN, NAS ? Knowledge of
Networking concepts/technologies such as LAN. WAN, Remote Access,
Citrix, Web acceleration etc ? Knowledge on large scale technical
solution implementation and global system infrastructure management
including server support and network analysis.

Main Responsibility

? Overall Environment (Dev/Test/Prod) assessment for Global Pharma
Development Application portfolio ? Evaluate the current
infrastructure support model that is instituted globally ? Conduct a
GAP analysis on existing database services for all applications. ?
Estimate the resource requirement, specific tasks and specific
services required to fill the GAP with respect to each existing
application ? Analyze and identify the DB services required to
complete the Service Model for each new application ? Review internal
SLAs/OLAs and ensure establishment of proper DB service model ?
Commoditize the work, initiate RFPs. select vendors, award contract,
manage vendors ? Provide expert DB knowledge wherever required and
manage contracts as individual projects ? Establish pro-active
analysis/assessment of DBs and ensure availability of proper DB
