Sorry this post is so long. If you are looking for a short answr and it is
actually OnForce.com that you are asking about STAY AWAY. If you want to
know why, read on
I think he means OnForce - The online system that lets you either pickup
extra work, or offload extra work.
If thats the one Tony, I've been both a service provider and someone looking
to hire a tempory extra pair of hands.
The experience I had picking up extra work was great. I was paid $75 to
install an HP jet direct card into a printer and turn around and walk out.
It was on the floor below one of my existing clients so it really was great.
Why people accept some of the jobs that onforce posts though I have no idea.
I'd say 90% of the work orders that arrive are a joke. $50 to troubleshoot a
computer thats infested with spyware that will take all day is insane. The
only good thing is that you don't answer to the end user, so if customer
satisfaction doesn't mean anything and all you want to do is get paid its
perfect.
Now, the experiences that I've had when hiring people has been a disaster.
In one instance, the guy took a friend with him and his friend sat in the
waiting area checking out the front desk staff. They felt very uncomfortable
and I had to void the invoice for the client to keep him happy.
The second, and last time that I used an OnForce guy I almost killed him. My
work order stated exactly where we'd be working and what we'd be doing. The
guy showed up, saw that the office building was in the final stages of
construction (being painted, final carpentry, some final furniture
installation etc) and then sat in his car for an hour. Then he came back and
told me he didn't want to work, which REALLY slowed up my crew being a man
short. When I got back to the office this guy had told OnForce that I'd
subjected him to an unsafe working enviroment and he was looking for his
money!
I never paid this idiot, but OnForce refused to kick him out and to give me
back all the fee's that were associated with signing him up.
If you're on this group I assume that customer service is important to you,
and you take pride in what you do. If thats the case OnForce is NOT the
place for you.... stay away.
If you are still tempted, let me know and I can forward you some recent work
orders and you can see how crazy they are.
Regards,
Jonathan Morris
