US-IL-Chicago: Application Support Analysts Needed F/T

Volt Services Group is currently recruiting for Application Support
Analyst for a client in Chicago. This person will be responsible for
the following:


Works closely with System Engineering, Networking Engineering and
Development teams on the design and implementation of application
components.

Develop reliable, scalable and operationally robust application
architectures in support of both online and backend systems.
Participate and/or lead architecture design, review and implementation
efforts.

Design, develop and maintain tools for automating application
administration, management and monitoring. Work closely with other
Operations teams to identify and deliver utilities for enhancing the
reliability and manageability of application components.

Develop automation to augment and further enhance application
processing.

Develop, test and document operations procedures including;
installation, maintenance; restart / recovery, monitoring and
troubleshooting. Perform ongoing revision and testing of established
procedures.

procedures.

Perform on-call support by providing immediate responses to high
priority requests for assistance by the 24/7 Operations teams. Provide
after hours and weekend support as needed.

Train Operations personnel on applications and system procedures.

Document and / or assist in documenting application logic, process
flows, and configurations.


Establish and follow a structured methodology for implementing system
changes, configuration modifications and application upgrades.


Participate in the ongoing processes of investigating, analyzing and
providing long term resolutions to technical issues.


Requirements:
Degree in Computer Science or a related technical or scientific field
or related, equivalent experience.


3-5 years experience in UNIX / Linux operations / administration,
including creation, installation and maintenance of RPMs and OS level
debugging and performance tuning.


Experience with multiple core technologies, including; relational
databases, IP networking and various internet technologies.

Extensive experience installing, configuring and maintaining Apache Web
servers. Experience configuring SSL, redirects, rewrites, compiled
modules, etc is required.

2-3 years experience installing, configuring and operating J2EE
application servers or servlet containers (Weblogic, Jakarta-Tomcat,
JBoss, etc). Java development experience a plus.

System implementation experience required. Knowledge of formal
methodologies a plus.

Experience evaluating, implementing and configuring tools that automate
and support the operations, administration and management of complex
(i.e. multi-tiered, web and UNIX based) applications.

Significant experience developing methods and procedures. Strong
documentation skills required.

Experience developing complex administration, monitoring and management
utilities using, Perl, Python and other scripting languages required.

Excellent communications skills both written and verbal a must.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills; flexibility; ability
to plan and organize; responsiveness and creativity.

Strong desire to learn and work with multiple applications, tools and
technologies.

Knowledge and experience in the administration and operations of large
scale distributed computing environments. Experience with standard
system Operations methods and procedures. Prior hosting experience a
plus.

Demonstrated ability to perform in demanding multi-tasking environment
