We are seeking a suitably qualified student in the UK or EU to work on a new
research project in the Crystallography Group at the Clarendon Laboratory,
University of Oxford, leading to the D. Phil. degree, beginning in October
2006.
The primary purpose of the project, which will be sponsored by industry will
be to research and develop novel computer software for use in the field of
x-ray powder diffraction. Candidates should have a good knowledge of
mathematics and an interest and experience in computer software. In addition
they should have a background in the natural sciences, such as physics,
chemistry or possibly in computer sciences. The studentship will cover
University and College fees throughout the period of the project, plus the
normal graduate maintenance stipend, which at the present time is £12300 per
