Intermediate Network Engineer

Background
MicroWorks is a leading Ottawa based network services company serving
area businesses for over 20 years. Our clients range from private and
government sectors, including small and medium sized businesses. Our
service specialty areas include: IT Strategy and Planning, Information
Worker Support and IT Infrastructure. MicroWorks is a client oriented
organization, known for its work integrity and excellent customer
service.

Duties
MicroWorks has an immediate opening for a full-time Intermediate
Network Engineer position.

The duties of the Intermediate Network Engineer include the design,
installation and support of full networks, including servers,
desktops, communication infrastructures, backup systems, Internet
access, application software and the creation of user-friendly work
group environments.

The Intermediate Network Engineer provides support to customers and
his/her colleagues, including training, telephone support, on-site
support, and contact with manufacturers. This position also involves
carrying a pager on a rotation basis. Unscheduled, off-hours work does
arise from time to time.

Most of the Intermediate Network Engineer's duties are performed at
the customer's site.
Qualifications
• Hold a College Diploma or University Degree in a relevant field
• Be a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Have over 3 years of networking experience
• Have mastery of Microsoft Server Applications
• Possess excellent troubleshooting skills
• Have excellent interpersonal and consulting skills
• Be able to adapt to changing requirements
• Be very well organized and detail oriented
• Possess good writing skills
• Be a self-starter and be able to work independently
• Be experienced with Cisco hardware and possession of related Cisco
designations would be considered an asset
• Citrix server experience would be an asset
• Application integration skills with SQL, SharePoint, Microsoft
Office would be considered strong assets
