Linux Systems Administrator (2) - Toronto

Position reports to Operations Manager

Salary range Commensurate with experience
Main purpose
As an intermediate Linux system administrator you will be responsible for
maintaining three production 24/7 remote data centers across two continents.
This entails, performing capacity management, version management, server
deployment, O/S and application installation and maintenance, performing
hardware and software upgrades, backup infrastructure management, ensuring high
availability, incident/problem investigation/resolution, and architecting new
and existing systems. You will be working as part of a dynamic team of system
administrator’s and network engineers with in the department and will be
required to be part of cross functional project teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Related experience / Unique skill set
· 5 plus years of supporting a production UNIX environment as a system
administrator. The experience should be supporting the following operating
systems, Red Hat Enterprise class, Debian
· 5 plus years in version management for production, development, QA and lab
servers
· 5 plus years performing capacity management for production servers and
services
· 5 plus years maintaining and supporting an enterprise class back up
infrastructure, including capacity and version management. Veritas Netbackup
Datacenter and Legato experience a plus
· 5 plus years support an enterprise class email, DNS, LDAP services
· 5 plus years supporting large web server environments
· 5 years experience for server level security and practical experience
defending against DOS and DDOS attacks
· 3 plus years supporting and maintaining a storage area network, network
attached storage.
· 3 plus years experience scripting using Bash and Perl
· A very good understanding of IP based protocols and services
· ITIL foundations certification a plus

Education
· College diploma in computer science or engineering a must
· University degree in computer science or engineering a plus or equivalent
experience

· Excellent time management skills
· Ability to work as part of cross functional teams
