Sr. Research Mathematician
Roles and Responsibilities:
An exciting research opportunity exists for innovative and creative thinkers
to apply their mathematical skills in pioneering areas of information
theory, data analysis and model building, drawing inspiration from the
natural and physical sciences. You will collaborate with Physicists,
Chemists, Biologists, Computer Scientists, and Software Engineers in
formulating new multidisciplinary strategies for information densification,
storage, representation and translation. This is a fast paced dynamic work
environment in a small team setting. We are currently seeking Senior
Researchers with a PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Statistics.
Critical skills/experience
Multivariate regression and correlation techniques; Matrix algebra including
programming experience in MATLAB, Mathematica, S+, SAS, SPSS; experience
working with large databases and modeling with many variables. Experience
with data mining techniques. Skills in metadata representation strategies.
Deriving probabilistic models from a set of underlying restrictions and
equations. Familiarity with scientific data and experience interfacing on a
regular basis with scientists.
Desired skills/experience
Knowledge of quantum mechanics. Topological/geometric formulations to
modeling real systems; group theory, time dependent statistics, optimization
techniques.
Experience in constructing algorithms for parallel computing, including MPI
or threads programming. Experience in biologically inspired research,
genetic algorithms, or evolutionary computing. C/C++, Java or Fortran
programming.
