We have a requirement for on Microsoft SQL Server DBA for a one year contract, to commence in January of 2008. This database administrator will be required to take on the role of primary DBA on Corporate databases (for operational databases and data warehouse applications such as GEAC's SmartStream, ACCPACC, Netfinity Director, WebSense, TREMA Finance Kit, SAP Sales data mart), and their responsibilities will include the design, implementation and ensurance of ongoing integrity of the databases.

The design and implementation activities include: analyzing and understanding the business functions that use the data; determining the set of data that supports the business most economically defining sharable structures and relationships among data; developing and maintaining analytical data models and data architecture and verifying accurate representation of business requirements; analysis of database technology and structures that are a part of purchased application packages; developing and implementing standard operational procedures, and handoff of those procedures to the client server application support group; evaluation and selection of database hardware and software to be used, specifying any addition to database software that might be needed, including monitoring tools or methodology;design and implement backup and recovery facilities; assists programmers in using the database, conducting "walk-throughs" of their programs to ensure efficient database use; develop required documentation on the deliverables produced.

KNOWLEDGE
knowledge of multi-user client server applications is required;
knowledge of the GEAC Smartstream will be an asset;
knowledge of the TREMA Finance Kit will be an asset;
knowledge of the .NET architecture will be an asset;

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
8-10 years experience in progressively responsible positions in IT;
3-5 years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator;
application development lifecycle methodology;
preparing technical documentation;
analytical and technical skills;
experience in working in a team environment;
written and verbal communication skills;
experience using SMTP mail;
Enhanced Reliability security clearance;
Use of Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, ERWIN and experience using SQL SERVER,2000 cluster will be an asset.
