System Engineer

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of
Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one System Engineer position available.
Responsibilities involve functioning as a member of the technical team
providing primary technical support to NCSA. Including: installing,
maintaining, and supporting hardware and software systems. The position
will also include media management and overall building environment. Must
be able to work with a diverse population and analyze hardware and
software systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or
related field preferred, but degrees in alternate fields will be
considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on
nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCSA technologies).
• 1 year of experience with networked environments and a wide variety
of software and hardware.
• Knowledge in the management and support of individual technologies
such as UNIX system administration.

This position requires skills and knowledge in one or more areas of software
development, computer system (technical) management, performance analysis
and tuning, network architecture, and the ability to diagnose complex
hardware/software component and interaction problems.

This is an academic professional position at NCSA and is a 12-month, 100%-
time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary commensurate with
experience. Starting date as soon as possible after the closing date of the
search.
