None Location Fairfield, NJ % Travel 0 Relocation No Requirements Job Description: Software Project Manager for a multi-year, multi-million dollar technology refresh effort. Develop work product artifacts required to perform effective earned value project management including, but not limited to, work breakdown structures, resource loaded networks, financial estimates, risk management plans and project metric tracking reports. Take responsibility for keeping focus on real results, making the appropriate tradeoffs to manage scope, schedule, quality, people and budget. Execute the planning, monitoring and control activities within an iterative software development framework including re-planning activities when required. Communicate project milestones, schedule, progress, risks and challenges to project stakeholders. Effectively build development team momentum and maintain progress through effective interpersonal communication. Maintain the ability to evaluate current software development technology such as Web development frameworks, configuration management tools, automated testing tools, integrated development environments, business process engineering tools, and ad-hoc reporting tools. Education: Bachelors Degree in a scientific or technical discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, System Engineering, System Management, Industrial Engineering or related field is required. Required Skills: Working knowledge of project management practices and common approaches (knowledge of SAIC practices a plus). Candidate must have demonstrated experience managing multi-year engineering or development projects/programs of medium to high complexity. Experience with software development from inception to deployment, proven expertise in the management and control of funds and resources. Candidates must have experience developing and using earned-value project management products. Candidate must be committed to retaining and developing current SAIC employees and staffing new employees when required. Must have at least 5 years of program management experience with at least 4 years serving successfully in positions of major responsibility. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Significant understanding of J2EE multi-tier software development technologies. Desired Skills: An advanced degree and Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. Understanding and use of the Rational Unified Process (RUP). Knowledge of logistics, supply-chain management or procurement systems. Completion of SAIC PM I and PMII training a plus.
