Description: The Business Objects Developer will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and support of the data warehouse presentation layer using Business Objects and Business Objects Dashboards. The developer function will also handle the installation, configuration, tuning, and administration of the Business Objects servers and client software including Business Objects Reporting, Business Objects Supervisor, Business Objects Designer, and Business Objects Dashboards. The developer will create Universes for standard reporting, ad hoc query, general business users and advanced business users. Also, the candidate will work closely with business users and analysts to create Universes that meet their business requirements. This person will also create reports using Universes, queries, and Visual Basic procedures. The developer will create a wide variety of advanced reports of varying complexity including slice and dice, drill down, cross tab, multiple table/section, and master detail type reports.
Required Skills
Five years experience in Data Warehousing
At least 3 years Business Objects experience with Designer, Supervisor, Reporter, and Auditor
Extensive experience in Business Objects Universe design
Experience designing, developing and implementing Business Objects Dashboards
Experience with Business Objects SDK and/or WebIntelligence SDK
Recent experience with Business Object 6.5 and Business Object Xi
Experience with Oracle RDBMS 9i or higher
Highly proficient at SQL and PL/SQL programming
College degree in Computer Science; or equivalent experience
Minimum five years of experience working in a production Data Warehousing environment on an Unix Oracle RDBMS platform
Experience with Oracle RDBMS release 9i or higher and expertise in SQL and PL/SQL programming and performance tuning in a Unix environment
Demonstrated understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and practices, especially the Ralph Kimball approach to dimensional data modeling
Demonstrated understanding of the functions of a data warehouse in the corporate environment
Demonstrated ability to work with business users gathering requirements, translating those requirements into a technical solution, designing Business Objects universes and reports, and creating Business Objects dashboards
Experience with ETL tools, especially Informatica a plus
Experience in dimensional data modeling, according to the Kimball method a plus
Possess a project oriented approach to data warehouse presentation layer design and development work
Working knowledge with the following applications TOAD, Erwin, MS Office products including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage a heavy workload, achieve results while meeting project deadlines with minimal supervision
Must be a team player
