Summary:
The role of the Technical Specialist is to provide application programming and technical support for systems within the US. The primary focus of the Technical Specialist is to manage the design, development and support of PeopleSoft Financial application suite which will include day-to-day production support and development activities, as well as, managing patches and upgrades for our Peoplesoft Financials (GL, AP, P-to-P) solution. Overall areas of responsibility include designing, programming, debugging, and analysis of software applications, designing and creating interfaces to external applications, system administration, and change management. The position will also require standard and ad-hoc report development.
Responsibilities:
•Work with Management to define short and longer term ERP strategy and implement tactical and strategic solutions in support of that vision.
•Overall development responsibilities include the following: analysis of requests, creation of functional specifications and technical designs, development of level of effort estimates and project plans, prioritization and coordination of scheduling work with users.
•Develop and execute test plans, validate the test results, and manage user acceptance testing for the successful implementation of enhancements.
•Overall support responsibilities include providing 2nd level support across multiple applications. Ensures the delivery of support that is consistent with end user expectations and service level agreements. Reviews log files, system performance and system availability performance levels to plan capacity, tune performance and schedule system maintenance. Updates FAQs, knowledge scripts and technical training materials for support teams.
Peoplesoft Technical / Application Administration Support:

•Peoplesoft Development: Creates pages, records, component interfaces, reports and code to support business requirements.
•Plans, conducts, and directs the analysis of complex Finance business problems to be solved through PeopleSoft working as a liaison between the Finance and IS Departments.
•Provide technical assistance and training to the Finance Department; resolve questions, assess users’ needs, and recommend changes.
•Analyze current business processes within Finance to ensure the PeopleSoft system is utilized to full capacity.
•Transforms technical, system-related information into reference documentation (User Guides/Quick References) and/or training materials that are easily understood by the user community.
•Coordinates with the database and development staff in identifying poor running SQL in the database, gathering and generating the appropriate information to help the SQL owner tune the database.
•Works within team to define development standards, procedures and techniques; and to set up and document source code version control procedures. Identifies common and reusable components, designs object architecture, and builds object classes. Maintains core functionality library, archives and development/test environments. Migrates code according to change control procedures.
•Provides regular verbal and written project communications/updates of status and issues. Coordinates activities across vendor, end user and internal IS resources to achieve deliverables as defined in project plans.
•Manages the creation and/or updates to system documentation in accordance with departmental requirements.
•Develops and implements change control, backup, archival and recovery, disaster recovery, security, discrepancy reporting, system maintenance and administration, and system use SOPs.
Secondary Responsibilities:
•Completion of software assessments and recommendations.
•Full participation in goal and objective setting and review process.
•Manages end user expectations by providing regular status updates with end users concerning both support and development initiatives.
•Identifies and escalates issues or barriers to management as appropriate.
•Partners with members across IS team as a way to increase awareness, enhance standards and share learnings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
•Develops plans and tracks activities. Manages day-to-day activities; supervises Finance projects and deliverables.
•Assists with providing over site of external vendors involved with delivering projects.

Education and Experience Required:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or equivalent work experience;
•5-7 years experience in client server application development or web development;
•3 or more years experience with Peoplesoft Financials including Application Designer, Query, SQL, and nVision;
•Proficient with PeopleSoft table structures;
•Strong knowledge of SQL, database query tools, and basic database design concepts;
•Experience with Oracle DBMS (or other RDBMS);
•Experience with Data Integration or Enterprise Application Integration tools;
•Experience with batch management tools (Kron);
•Experience with standard and ad hoc reporting tools (Business Objects and/or Crystal Reports);
•Experience in web development technologies (Visual Studio .NET, XML, SharePoint) a plus;
•Familiarity with Sun Solaris (or other UNIX) environment;
•Experience with Windows XP/2K, MS Office Suite;
•Knowledge of business, financial and general accounting principles and practices;
•Excellent documentation skills using tools like Visio and PowerPoint
