Description: Title: Project Engineer II Location: NY, Rochester Req Number: itti-00009363 Position Description: ITT Space Systems Division in Rochester (NY) is interested in considering a range of candidates for the position of Project Engineer. Dependent on the candidates experience and education this position may serve as a functional expert in one or more areas of engineering expertise. They may provide advanced engineering services in solving highly complex problems in area of specialization or product / design development to a wide range of products, projects or programs to the Space Systems Divisions Engineering business unit. This position requires highly specialized knowledge of project management and engineering principles, theories and techniques.
Scope and Principle Duties: Provides advanced technical engineering expertise on complex technical problems in a broad field of engineering, research and development for highly complex and technical space-based aerospace products. Uses the application of engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques which are highly innovative and ingenious. Leads the design, development, test and verification of complex engineering systems. Work will encompass a wide range of sophisticated (cross-discipline) engineering problem resolutions. The role involves leadership assignments related to products and systems including the engineering of new products or updates to existing products.
Job Specifications and Work Performed: Proficient at leading large IPT based teams (25+). Often called upon to take on additional program challenges outside of responsible areas. Protects company interests in challenging subcontract arrangements or relationships. Able to analyze project schedule, insuring adequate resource assignments, and resolving resource conflicts. Experience Requirements: Education and Experience: Requires B.S. degree, preferably in Engineering with 8-20 years work experience or a MS degree with 5+ years work experience, or a PhD with 2+ years work experience. Working Condition: General office environment, laboratory, manufacturing area, or research areas requiring the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time. Personal protective equipment may be required to be used. Position requires the ability to work with computers and lift up to 25 pounds.
