I am looking for a specialist in Informix DBA.The position is a long
term assignment and the details are as below.

Position: INFORMIX DBA
Skills: Must have good Informix IDS 7.3x and 9.3x knowledge,Data
Migrations using High Performance (ipload) Load utilities

Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Job description:
ROLE:

General administration on database systems which includes maintaining
data stores, schema objects, security and access privileges, software
installation and configuration.
* Design, implement, maintain and automate the appropriate backup and
recovery architecture required.
* Implement database replication for reporting and failover purposes.
* Interface with application owners to resolve technical and business
issues for which databases could be part of the solution.
* Optimize performance on database and applications.
* Capacity planning exercises to properly identify required hardware,
software, database configuration/architecture necessary to support
application need
* Review of Data Modeling, schema design and review.
* Implement monitoring, auditing and alert systems.
* Educate application development and support people on best practices
of the databases


PRIMARY SKILLS:

* At least 3 to 5 years of Informix database administration work

Strong experience with database administration work on Informix in an
environment where Informix was the backend for a mission-critical
application.
* Must have good Informix IDS 7.3x and 9.3x knowledge
* Database backup and Restore using on-bar with external tape backup
systems
* Data Migrations using High Performance (ipload) Load utilities
* Must have experience in writing and analyzing complex SQL, stored
procedures & triggers.
* Knowledge of database connectivity products ie.(JDBC, ODBC, I
Connect).
* Experience with Complex Distributed database environments
* Problem analysis, resolving and good analytical skills
* Prior involvement of data modeling (Create logical & Physical models)
is helpful.
* Experience with data warehousing databases like Teradata is an added
advantage
* Business Intelligence systems and is familiar with ETL processes and
warehouse maintenance operations.
* Prior involvement with application development is an added advantage
* Experience on 24x7 database support.

DESIRED SKILLS:

Solid Unix system administration fundamentals.
* Familiarity writing scripts in one or more of the following
languages: Shell, perl
* Knowledgeable with database performance tuning, backup and recovery,
system architecture and design as well as high availability concepts.
* Ability to develop procedures, processes and conventions to
standardize database operations.
