Oracle database Administrator

Responsibilities/Duties:

* Production support of large, 7x24 Oracle databases.

* Rotating on-call duties after hours.

* Troubleshoot Production problems and work effectively with other
team members to identify and address problems.

* Logical and physical database design.

* Backup and recovery to insuring recoverability.

* Performance analysis and tuning.

* Tuning of SQL code and assisting developers in writing and tuning
SQL queries.

* Creating new environments per requirements.

* Scripting for database monitoring and to automate routine tasks.

* Ensuring data security by establishing and enforcing proper access
policy.

* Researching, testing and coordinating Oracle patches/upgrades.

* Interacting with Oracle support to resolve issues.

Technical Knowledge:

* Clear understanding of RDBMS fundamentals.

* Experience with Oracle 9i, 10g.

* Experience with UNIX * AIX, Solaris, Linux

* Experience scripting in UNIX shells * Korn shell, bash, perl.

* Expertise in backup/recovery/fail-over methods and best practices.

* Experience with RMAN and Legato backups.

* Experience using database monitoring tools * OEM, toad.

* Experience in tuning SQL code.

* Strong SQL skills. Ability to code and recompile packages and code
functions and procedures.

* Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures, and
ability to write specifications for applications to be developed.

* Exceptional communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills.

* Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow clear methodologies for
troubleshooting and development.

* Ability to support and work within standard software development
life cycle practices.
