PLANT PURCHASING MANAGER/ CAREER POSITION/ IN



This is a major tier 1 company that is growing faster than their
competitors are shrinking. We need a person with a metals purchasing
background. Automotive background and MRO are very strong plus factors. The
position is located in the

Greater South Bend area.

Main purpose of the job:
Structure and lead the improvement of supplier quality in conjunction
with the Plant Quality Manager. Improve productivity on purchased parts,
ensure successful implementation of supplier parts on new programs, and lead
the purchase of non-production materials and services in a plant. Provide
leadership and training to the Plant Buyer(s) and Supplier Quality Assurance
Engineer(s) in achieving objectives.





Main missions and results:
· Build a productivity plan for plant suppliers on bought parts,
materials and services:

- Consolidate a cost reduction plan with plant suppliers.
(CART)

- Ensure its implementation.



· Champion supplier performance initiatives:

- Champion the successful launch of new programs through supplier
PPAP reviews and verification of sufficient materials for

program ramp up and launch.

- Champion the improvement of supplier PPM and delivery
through the use of supplier quality procedures (e.g. DMR issuance,

Quality Wall, Containment, 8D completion, Incoming
Quality Verification, Top 10 Worst PPM Parts).

- Define priority actions with Plant Buyers and SQA
Engineers.

- Generate and verify the implementation of corrective
actions.



· Define a plan for the reduction of the number of
non-production suppliers and work with Corporate Purchasing on defining and
implementing a similar plan for production suppliers consistent with the
Approved Supplier List management as defined in our Corporate "Evaluation of
Subcontractors" procedure.



· Champion the management of the plant's purchases of
non-production materials and services in support of production regarding
quality, cost, and timing. Ensure that Corporate Purchasing and Supplier
Development and Plant procedures are followed for all purchases.



· Provide leadership, support and training to the Plant Buyers
and SQA Engineers on his or her team. Provide information needed to
establish Plant budgets.



· Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of supplier
productivity, quality, and new program launches on purchased parts including
CART, Incoming Quality Verification, Top 10 Worst PPM Parts, SupplierTrak,
Top 5 Worst Suppliers.
