for auto and home insurance where we have established a global
leadership position.
Our leadership in personal lines insurance pricing is based on our
breakthrough innovations in:
Estimating the price elasticity - how volume changes with price -
for different types of customers
Integrating elasticity estimates with estimates of claims and other
costs for different types of customers to accurately simulate the
profit impact of any price change
Using optimization techniques to identify the best price changes for
a given financial objectives and constraints - eg. maximize growth
subject to some minimum level of profitability
We leverage these innovations by providing analytical consulting
services and software solutions to help auto and home insurers around
the world build and implement the capabilities for setting "optimized
prices" that best meet their objectives for profit and growth.
While the optimized pricing approach is readily implemented by direct
insurers in less regulated markets, we have found that the challenges
of intermediation and regulation require special care.
