Hi

We as maintainers of the consultants page don't use this mailing list at
all. So it gets almost only spam. If noone objects I'll ask for its removal.

Cheers

Luk

I agree. I think it's bad of the maintainers of the consultants
list to say they don't use it and suggest removal rather than
offer it to us to run. At least we have a clear signal that
consultants@ don't want it any more.

I support Michelle Konzack, Krisztian Mark Szentes and Stephen
Hardman as moderators, if they are still willing to do so.
If one of the three moderators steps down, replace ASAP.

What next?

1. Read http://www.ibiblio.org/oswg/oswg-nightly/oswg/en_US.ISO_8859-1/article...ladvice

2. Make a list of on-topic and off-topic examples and
give everyone a week or so to agree or amend

3. Make a list of "guest authors" (may be subscribers) to write on
a new topic each week, so we know there'll be some useful traffic

How's that?

Just to be clear: I object.

Will you support its transfer to owners from among the debian-consultants
subscribers?

Will the consultants maintainers promote membership of the list to
new entrants of the consultants page? I believe they would be
welcome to announce themselves here, should they wish.

I don't fully understand what you mean. AFAICT there is nothing to
transfer: either the list remains or the list is removed.

Do you mean you want to use the list among Debian consultants? If so,
then I'll not ask to remove the list and we could promote the list.

But it should be clear that the list will not be used by the consultants
page maintainers for the moment (this can change of course). So, please
make sure that if anything is to be changed to the consultants page to
send it still to consultants DeleteThis @debian.org. And please, if you want to
discuss something with the maintainers, then Cc consultants DeleteThis @debian.org.

Cheers

There is a general problem with debian lists that the owners
"forget" to take care of their lists and just let them wither
and die. This list seems to have been launched by the Debian
consultants list maintainer, but successors have done little
with it.
[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-consultants/1997/10/msg00003.html

If consultants@ don't want it any more, let's appoint new
owners who will take care of it and try to make sure it is more
than a spamtrap. I'm sure there are many of us who are doing
interesting work thanks to debian who would like to read about
other interesting work.

I hope that you will post any interesting news or calls for help
here, but I agree that changes for the website should be sent
directly.

I personaly would like to see this list get more usefull traffic. I
think the idea of having people write weekly articles about debian
consulting is a great idea and will support anything that keeps this
list alive and spam free.

Why would you want to keep a mailing list whose only traffic is
yearly calls for its removal?
