SQL DBA

As the MS SQL DBA your workload will be divided into four elements:

* Ongoing database care (maintenance plans, tuning and optimizations)
* Protection of the data (backups, warm standby servers, hardware
monitoring) * Emergency database care (immediate correction of
hardware / software failures and remedying data integrity issues) *
Database development (schema changes, query design, liaising with
existing development team)

As a SQL Database Administrator you will provide daily management of
all existing Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 databases, including
performing basic administrative tasks such as db/log backup/recovery,
consistency checking, and ensuring optimal performance by tuning both
SQL and Windows 2000/2003. You will be the sole database administrator
and as a result must be willing to be contacted 24/7 for database
related emergencies. In addition to providing database related support
during normal business hours, you must be willing to work 'off hours'
to perform periodic maintenance for the production environment.

Responsibilities:

* Optimize SQL Server performance, ensure availability through
automated event detection and correction, and run management and usage
reports. * Design relational database schemas, evaluate current
database schemas and propose improvements and write specification
documentation. * Work with a variety of third party and internally
developed applications, developing and documenting data
transformations, as well as designing integration points between the
applications. * Responsible for management reporting and stress
testing.

Requirements:

* You must have experience using data manipulation, data
transformation and data cleansing tools; * 5+ years of MS SQL
2000/2005 experience. * 4+ years as SQL DBA in an enterprise
environment, including experience designing, implementing, and
supporting enterprise databases. * Proven expertise with all MS SQL
tools and with SQL stored procedure programming. MCSE+I and/or MCDBA
certifications are very strong pluses. Excellent analytical and
organizational skills. * You must be a flexible and creative thinker
who can adapt to a changing environment. * You must be highly self-
motivated and able to perform your job well with little outside
direction. * BS / MS in computer science preferred.
