Position Summary
As a Supervising Design Engineer you are a leader in bringing new
approaches, new technology and new experts to the organization. You will be
responsible to define and implement goals and strategies for the Product
Development group while actively promoting the learning and development of
others within and outside the group. In addition, you will manage the
technical aspects of a product line or technology family in Tundra including
new product development and introduction, applications, manufacturing and
test engineering support, and for the successful integration of new
methodologies and tools.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
· Manage the development and implementation of the technical
specifications, technology selection, design, verification, validation and
project plans of new products and revisions of products by engaging external
and internal resources to ensure timely completion.
· Collaborate with the other design managers to manage the resource
allocation and the deployment of engineering staff to best balance company,
project and individual needs.
· Set goals and objectives for the engineering team working under
your purview, ensuring that work is completed, provide timely performance
feedback, manage compensation and ensure team members learn and progress in
their careers.
· Delegate routine tasks and provide others with the latitude to
perform without interference.
· Act as a bridge between larger, longer-term strategies and the
tactical activities, ensuring that today's activities align with the overall
company objectives.
· Represent your function in cross-company forums and in the larger
communities outside of Tundra in order to collaborate and align with other
managers, and accomplish objectives.
· Demonstrate an understanding of how your group impacts the
company's bottom line, how to control costs and produce profit, to
anticipate future needs and access the required resources.
· Set and track performance against standards and keep the team
focused on goals.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
· Minimum 6 years experience in ASIC development.
· Strong digital design and verification skills.
· Knowledge of Verilog/VCS or VHDL, synthesis, timing analysis.
· Familiar with Synopsys tools.
· Experience with FPGA, SOC and customer owned tools (COT) ASIC
design flows.
· Possess the ability to work with software, hardware and
verification engineers.
· Strong collaborative skills with technical and non-technical
peers.
· Interested in playing a variety of roles on a team.
· Technical acumen to build and maintain credibility in technical
forums and to absorb and apply highly technical information in your work.
Our ideal candidate can demonstrate an interest and track record of
leadership in ASIC development. We're interested in knowing about your
track record of involvement through the design cycle of ASIC products, and
how much experience you have in applying design methodologies to create high
quality products. We're looking for people who have experience with silicon
technology, COT flows and datacom silicon design. Familiarity with PCI,
PCI-X, MPX/60X, DDRII, Gigabit Ethernet, and RapidIO is a strong plus.
