I have 2 notebook computers. One runs Win2k and the other Winx XP.
I have Antivirus, Firewall, Spyware, etc. to protect my PC.
I am concerned about if my notebook computer was stolen, and someone was able to either steal the
information on the hard drive by "bypassing" my security measures above, because they would probably
want to sell the computer, etc.
1) I have a Windows Password on startup and I have a boot password on the Bios, so that when I
startup machine it needs my password after turning on. Is this technique strong enough to not get
broken, if someone steals my notebook.
2) I saw a program from PC World called Jammer, that can put a password protection on boot. What if
someone wants to remove my hard drive and make it run from another machine, etc. Is this software
very good. It's free.
3) Anyway, my point, is what is the best way to prevent access to my notebook hard drive if it was
stolen to prevent personal information from being taken. I don't care so much about getting my
notebook back, as protecting the data.
I really want something easy to install such as on "booting the machine" it only asks for the
password once. I don't want it to keep asking for passwords after startup.
