NM.* NEWSGROUPS CHARTER & INFO SHEET
The nm.* groups are intended for use by New Mexican residents, just as
all regional groups are for regional use only. This is particularly
significant with respect to nm.forsale and nm.jobs, although those in
geographically close areas such as bordering states may advertise job
openings to nm.jobs. Posting to the nm hierarchy is appropriate only
if it is either local to New Mexico, or of special interest to New
Mexicans and of little interest elsewhere.

Short charters follow:
The nm hierarchy is being created with the rule "NO UNSOLICITED
ADVERTISEMENT POSTINGS ARE PERMITTED." The only group to which this
rule does not apply is nm.forsale. Specifically, unsolicited
advertisements should NOT be posted to nm.general. This is to provide
for cancellation of spam and carpet bomb postings and to keep the S/N
ratio higher. Solicited ads are those responding to a legitimate
request for information by an unaffiliated person. All of the original
groups are unmoderated. Trolls, binaries, and other similar abuses
which hinder communication between New Mexicans will not be tolerated.
nm.general is for general discussion of topics related specifically to
the New Mexico region. Advertisements and announcements are not allowed
and will be cancelled. Currently, there is no NM regional group to post
web announcements.
nm.config is for discussion of the nm hierarchy.
nm.forsale is for postings of advertisements of all sorts, including
services, in which New Mexican residents would have an interest. It
is also a legitimate space for New Mexican businesses to post
advertisements. If the post is not of special interest to a New Mexican
audience or an advertisement for a New Mexican business, it should NOT be
posted to nm.forsale and may be cancelled. The postings should be somewhat
short (under 1000 lines or so), relatively free from hype, and have a
descriptive Subject: line. Automated postings should never have a
posting frequency of more than one per month. Setting "Followup-To: poster"
in the headers is encouraged (followups will be sent by email instead
of posting).
nm.jobs is for posting resumes by New Mexican residents and resident
wanna-bes, and for job openings in New Mexico and neighboring states.
Postings for national job offerings or job searches should NOT be
posted to nm.jobs. "Work-from-home" and MLM schemes are not welcome
and may be cancelled.
nm.test is primarily for news testing.
